Prior to joining NYUSOM, I was a Senior Research Scientist at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I am involved in several research projects in MIT as well as several other research institutions. My research interests include but are not limited to neural engineering, brain-machine interfaces, computational neuroscience and neuropsychiatry, computational statistics and machine learning for healthcare, and BIG DATA analysis. Dr. Chen has published more 140 research papers. He is the lead author of the book "Correlative Learning: A Basis for Brain and Adaptive Systems" (Wiley, 2007) and has served as the guest editor of three Special Issues published in Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience, and Frontiers in Computational Physiology and Medicine. He is the editor for the book "Advanced State Space Methods for Neural and Clinical Data" (Cambridge University Press, 2015), and the co-editor for the book "Dynamic Neuroscience" (Springer, 2018).
