I received my master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) from UVM with a focus in energy system modeling and data analytics. My research during that time focused on modeling and optimizing plant and building operations. As well as the effect of thermal flexibility in buildings and the impact this added flexibility has on economic costs and emissions under different carbon tax scenarios. During that time, I also worked at the UVM Physical Plant on a variety of projects from energy efficiency studies to helping implement their OSI pi data platform for data visualization and storage. I have had the privilege of working alongside computer scientists, accountants, architects, and all types of engineers both in academia and industry. Everyone thinks about a problem differently and the more you consider and incorporate these different perspectives the better your results.
