Wolly Wollinger Email & Phone Number | I am a lucky man. I did not consider Edgewood College's Marriage & Family Therapy until three days before applications were due. I dropped Intro to Psyche for an Ed. class (at the time I was a special education student). Other majors included Child Life, Health Communication, and (finally) Interpersonal & Organizational Communication. Changing circumstances afforded an opportunity to attend graduate school and, three days later, my application was sent and I never looked back. During the last years, I have been able to intern at The Family Center and Briarpatch Youth Services. I provided individual, family, and group therapy in these roles. Both of these organizations focused on providing services to folks who may otherwise not have access to them. TFC had some offerings, and Briarpatch had & has a profound impact on the community, serving primarily homeless youth. My Briarpatch internship turned into a job in their TLP, or Transitional Living Program. This program housed up to nine 18-21 year olds for up to 18 months. These individuals were transitioning out of homelessness. I worked/interned in the above positions until graduating with my Master's in Marriage & Family Therapy in December 2018. I began working as a Skills Coach for FLYY in the following January. Thankfully, FLYY is another non-profit organization serving many folks with minimal access to mental healthcare. This work has made me increasingly mindful of systems and the ways they tend to benefit or (more commonly) harm communities they "serve". It doesn't take long working in systems to begin shaking one's fist at them. I am not currently looking for work per se, but I am looking to connect around the state and the country with others advocating for access to adequate care. Whether you're a community member or wearing a "professional" hat, let's put our heads together and start working for the people.
