He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Dr. Lu has been past chairman of the Neurosurgery department and prior Medical Director of the Neuroscience Institute at Florida Hospital. He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He has been in practice in the central Florida area since 1994. He and his wife Beth have 3 children, Lauren, Ben and Grace.
