While in the Custom Synthesis Group at Vertex, I took a leadership role with the successful introduction of both bio-catalytic transformations and early solid form exploration to the group. Later during my tenure at Vertex, I worked closely with the Scientific Research Computing group as a beta tester for the in-house developed Electric Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and as an alpha tester for the new Integrated Design Environment Application (IDEA). In my most recent venture at Lytica Therapeutics, I have become proficient in Solid Phase Protein Synthesis (SPPS) as well as peptide stapling and have even begun early formulation efforts to develop Dry Powder Inhaled (DPI) and topical applications of our peptides. Specific experiences includes: • Structure-Based Drug Design • Drug discovery in the areas of Infectious Disease, Inflammation, Oncology, and Rare Diseases • Ability to run reactions on milligram to kilogram scale • Exploration of PROTAC technology in a lead series • Early formulation development work on both dry powder and topical formulations • Developed robust multi-step synthetic procedures applicable to scale-up production • Multidisciplinary interaction with Biology, PK, IT, Scientific Research Computing, and Process collaborators • Hands on application of modern analytical techniques including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, LCMS, GCMS, X-ray Powder Diffraction • Solid Phase Protein Synthesis (SPPS) and peptide stapling • Spray Drying utilizing a Buchi B-295 • Managed group of 4 - 8 MS and Ph.D. chemists as well as external CROs • Mentored new lab members in safety and standard laboratory practices • Demonstrated both excellent communication and written skills email: ed.dorsch@gmail.com cell: 617-510-2297
