Vishal Ravindra is a Principal data scientist at a 10 year old global Telematics startup mentoring a team of 15+ data scientists and engineers to solve problems and deploy solutions on both edge (mobile device) and the server. As part of our company's effort to build an industry leading market place to connect safe drivers to insurers that reward road safety, I have helped conceptualise, and take to production, predictive modeling to help the safest drivers get the right telematics based insurance discounts. I also pioneered a smartphone sensor fusion algorithm that runs on thousands of mobile devices every day, around the world, that helps generate driver ratings for various telematics customers. I guide data scientists to create and take to production several algorithms in the space of trip classification, driver behaviour, phone usage and our industry leading crash detection using mobile sensor data. I have grown to be a Technical leader in Machine learning, Deep learning, Statistical signal processing and Sensor fusion leveraging my decade and a half of post-PhD experience in government research labs, industrial R&D and start-ups. Experience in diverse domains - Aerospace and defence, Wind turbine/farm controls and optimisation, telematics and driver modeling to connect safe drivers to the right insurance policies.
