I work in industrial automation which is a natural domain for me given my background in process systems engineering for 6 years at IIT bombay But.. There will always be a but, 😜 I realized, I don't know half of IA domain until I joined Schneider. It's been 2 years and domain specific learning curve is still high. Along with domain itself, this DS role is teaching me, how to 1. Reach out to multiple stake holders 2.Research not for the sake of it but for business ( though researcher in me still wants to do the other way) 3. Project Management (hats off to project managers out there, you seem to have a lot on plate) 3. Design thinking as an approach to problem solving 4. Taking ownership ( not just making a poc but learning how to make it an offer too - still pretty naive there, tough part though) All in all, happy to say, I am learning.. Finally, its a job role that's a combination of product management, data science, research in proportions.. Frustrated at times, Anxious too but definitely out of comfort zone and learning...
