Vidya Kumar Email & Phone Number | After a successful postdoctoral training at Yale University, I have a moved on to join The Henry M. Jackson Foundation as a Scientist. Developing partial body radiation model in mice and screening for new medical countermeasures for NIAID and DoD has been my prime area of research. My current focus is gastrointestinal and long-term lung injury due to radiation. In addition, being a reviewer for many international journals has helped me grow as a scientist and broaden my horizon also an opportunity to give back to this scientific community. I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma in Dec 2011. During my PhD I studied mechanisms of enzymes and earned proficiency in steady-state kinetics. As a postdoctoral associate, I successfully transitioned into protein crystallography with small molecule inhibitors in Dr. Anderson's lab at Yale University, Department of Pharmacology. I have a unique skill base and experience from academia and industry. As an Associate Research Scientist in AstraZeneca India, I have worked with various projects and targets at different levels of drug discovery. I also specialize in high-throughput screening. Developing various types of assays and running them in HTS format is my niche area. I also have experience in maintaining and handling mammalian cell cultures. I attribute my success to detailed planning and meticulous execution of the projects. I have a good combination of strong technical skills from the industry and analytical and critical thinking from the training during graduate school, which are needed to troubleshoot problems in the lab. I am excited to apply my experiences and creativity to new and important challenges in the lab. It is my goal to find a position in a stimulating, supportive and collaborative environment.
