Having supported the GE Diagnostic group has strengthened my programming & organization skills. This pushes me to evaluate all current processes & activities beyond the current state, so I can enhance & modify accordingly for GE or their customers. I have to self-manage incoming project requests, & their prioritization, but also know when to involve management for entanglement. Strong forecasting skill & “thinking outside the box” is a must; I need to understand the situation so I can forecast the next steps to take, or possible problem that could arise, exhaust all possible resource to get the result. One of the resources I reference often is the accumulated knowledge of aircraft data flow within the business. This necessitates self-motivation to ask questions & connect different group & different data system, which benefits when faced to determine a starting point to research. In a normal work day I spend 60% to 75% troubleshooting data or process issues. Tenacity is the key when researching an issue. If I encounter an impasse, I seek out an expert, or direct the client to the experts, so the issue can be permanently fixed. All skills previously mentioned are also needed & used for supporting and maintaining the Diagnostic PC Lab. These computers have a menagerie of processes that run 24x7 for customers around the world. This demands that I be available during all non-business hours, including holidays. I’m also involved during Windows OS changes & MSOffice version changes. I have to test, make necessary code changes, & manage the switch without interrupting normal business deliverables.
