I teach yoga classes but also thrive and feel comfortable on the business side and have run my own business for the last 10 years. Prior to starting my wellness career, I worked for LA County Child Support Services Department as a caseworker initially and then as a supervisor. Some of my responsibilities were overseeing large projects that required extensive verbal and written communication with all stakeholders, including my team, my managers, Department management and outside interested parties such as the Board of Supervisors. As a caseworker, I was involved in one on one communication with clients in person, by phone and in formal letters. I’ve worked with diverse groups with challenging needs in highly demanding setting but always prioritized clear, respectful communication, accuracy of information and a positive attitude. I once oversaw a project so large that I had a team of 100 people that I was responsible for training and verifying the accuracy of every case they reviewed. We achieved our goal and passed our audit allowing our department to receive full funding from the state. I’ve been self employed most of the last 20 years, but even in my role at LACounty or prior positions at a retail clothing store and an importing company, I’ve always been self motivated, hardworking and conscientious. I believe every job is important and can bring deep satisfaction when it is done well.
