I've helped develop online physics courses at Finger Lakes Community College. These courses include algebra-based College Physics (I & II) and calculus-based University Physics (I &II). These courses make use of online instruction modules, lab activities that make use of an affordable lab kit, online homework, and proctored exams. Each year we have over 500 students take these courses at FLCC. More recently, I've adapted my in-person and online courses to provide HyFlex versions of my courses. HyFlex (combo of HYbrid and FLExible) allows students to decide whether they attend the class "live" (in-person or remotely) or watch videos of the class meetings. All students perform the lab experiments and do the homework, with a discussion forum available for questions and answers. In addition to the traditional Physics I and II courses, I also have developed a lab-based physics course for music and recording students entitled Physics of Sound. This course gives students a solid working base of the physics behind music creation, from wave properties to musical scales. Students also investigate the workings of speakers, microphones, and musical instruments.
