The code was untestable, contains a lot of inheritance-hell and was ugly. Some years later, I was lucky to help a large team, who had crafted a nice web-application using dependency injection. This is when I got my aha-moment: it is possible to write beautiful, well tested code. Now it has become even better: awesome libraries, brilliant tools and lots of online quality resources to learn from. But of course, the problems we need to fix have evolved too ;) I still like engineering software, I love refactoring ugly beasts into beautiful puppies and I'm still exited when the bar goes green!
