  Tom Mullen is a All opinions on this account are my own: I joined BT in 1986 as an engineer and worked my way up from telephone engineering to running IT teams covering Network design, IT system design, installation, special faults investigation and incident management. In 2000 I was selected to manage the BT CERT team. (Computer Emergency Response Team). I combined the CERT team with trained investigators and forensics forming the BT E-Crime team. The team was very successful in detecting, preventing and investigating incidents globally. During this period I also served for 4 years as a Director and Steering Committee member of the non profit, Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). FIRST was a leader in incident response and was at the forefront of outreach and incident response collaboration across the globe. www.first.org In 2006 I was then promoted to General Manager in charge of BT Corporate Investigations team. My role had a global remit including e-crime, bribery & corruption, fraud, theft, false accounting, crisis management, physical security, intelligence and the investigation of any crimes or breaches of policy that impacted on BT its staff or customers. As general manager I had to ensure we engaged with all stakeholders such as Legal, HR, Unions and the BT SLT. After 28 years at BT I moved to O2 Telefonica UK in 2013 where I was appointed Head of Cyber Security. My role was the implementation of a cyber security strategy and to setup the O2 CERT incident response team. During this period I also setup a cross industry cyber intelligence sharing forum. I also worked closely with OFCOM, DCMS and NCSC to implement and carry out the first Telco TBEST pilot. 24 years experience in Cyber Crime, Fraud, Corporate Investigations, Security Strategy, Government collaboration and Major incident management. Presented on keynote panel at Infosec 2015, 2016 and 2024 Expert witness on cybercrime at all parliamentary select committee. Served on the board of the Global Corporate Executive Programme Formally had CISSP certification and was an EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker. I also have hands on experience in crisis management within large blue chip companies having been involved in managing and leading on major incidents globally. I have driven major security work programs and enhanced security maturity within BT, O2 and Motorola Solutions. I am now currently working as the senior operational security director for Motorola Solutions.
