Tom Mathews Email & Phone Number | Took my first computer class in 1983, at the ripe age of 14, at Pikes Peak Community College. I learned BASIC and COBOL programming. In high school, I went on to learn FORTRAN and PASCAL, but not wanting to be labeled a "Computer-Geek" I tried to immerse myself in sports and conditioning. As a junior I took the ASVAB and scored high enough that requiters came calling. When the USMC recruiter showed up at my house, I was impressed, I was Gung-Ho and signed up for the reserves right there. After unsuccessfully applying to the USAFA my Senior year of High School, I entered the Active Duty Air Force. I signed up for Combat Controller (USAFSF) and was on my way to bigger-and-better things. I failed my flight physical, due to astigmatism in my right eye, and was given a choice of career fields to choose from. Since I was bummed about not being able to be an operator, I chose to go into Munitions. Little did I know that that was going to involve learning computer systems for missiles and smart ordinance. Fast forward back to civilian life, a slew of jobs that always ended up with programming something, (Cash registers, machinery, etc..) I decided to use the GI Bill to get a degree in Computers and Networking. The rest you can say is history...
