I’ve been hooked from a young age on mechanisms and systems that achieve what once would have been unimaginable, be it a water wheel or a nuclear reactor, and it is this fascination that led me to pursue a career in engineering. After working at GKN Telford for over seven years, I feel that I have found my calling. Now, backed by a HND in Engineering, I feel confident that I could apply my skillset to any manufacturing process, using experience gained in processes such as, but not limited to, new product development, the continuous improvement and maintenance of existing lines, and the introduction of a brand-new process. Routinely working with teams of over ten people, and functioning as the process expert on multiple fast-moving production lines, has allowed me to develop communication skills that I use to maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers alike. I am trained in Lean Principles and have experience working with lines including: • Press and roll forming processes • large fixtured weldments • Assembly and fit-out • Electrocoat and powder coat finishing techniques • 3D CAD – Autodesk Inventor • Programming CNC Machines and C02 laser cutters My personal interests include most things ‘techy’, certainly anything with an engine. I am passionate about cars and can routinely be found covered in oil underneath one. My most recent ambition is to hold a private pilot’s licence, which I am currently working towards at Sleap Aerodrome in Shropshire. I am now looking to broaden my career with an employer who can offer me personal and professional development opportunities, where I can contribute my skills to achieve great outcomes for both my employer and myself.
