After leaving school with two A-levels, I went directly to work in the film industry. Over the next 10 years, I helped produce over 30 feature films and hundreds of adverts and music videos. My work involved collaborating with Oscar-winning directors and some of the future’s leading creators. I then retrained at SCA 2.0 and finally found my calling via a learning model that truly suited my neurodivergent mindset. This creative circus /cult/bedlam collective of creatives enabled me to begin my digital conceptual creative career at Google. From there, the medium of storytelling accelerated towards smaller and smaller screens. I enhanced my ability to tell engaging stories for a social audience, learning and understanding the platforms as they evolved. Blasting off with a few social firsts being central to orchestrating the biggest influencer-led campaign to date, which ended up filling Wembley Stadium and streaming live to 80,000 fans why the rest of the industry didn’t know what influencers were. I delved deep into the worlds of virtual and augmented reality, learning the mechanics of game engines and user theory, and making experiences that connect to the human nervous system. I began understanding the exhilarating need for a strong culture to build great work and began contributing to building and growing agencies. Starting with innovation hubs run on information ion, technology and data to an in-house agency for one of the UK’s leading brands. There, I led social strategies, built social creative platforms and grew a team of like-minded, socially driven ‘pirates’, making us the most engaged telco on social by 6X more than any competitor. Main learnings Culture is paramount. Get there by feeding your team's obsessions. The mediums and platforms may evolve quickly but humans evolve much slower. So tell stories.
