Protein production and protein chemistry have been the red thread in my career where I for example have worked on developing a novel cytochrome tag that gives the protein a red color and has been shown to stabilize membrane proteins. This tag has allowed high level of expression, purification and quantification of different antiporters that previously has not been over expressed. I have also worked as R&D scientist at the world’s largest enzyme manufacturer Novozymes where I worked in an immunochemistry lab. After this I worked as the team leader for the Prokaryotic team at the Protein Production Facility at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research at Copenhagen University. The team consisted of me and three technicians and we produced human proteins or protein domains heterologously expressed in E. coli primarily for internal use at the research center. I also collaborated with specific researches and developed a tag that successfully produced folded active disulfide rich proteins in the periplasm. My education and work experiences have given me strong competences in vector design, protein expression optimization and assay development. I always look for areas that can be improved and use my innovative mind set to try to come up with alternative solutions.
