Previous positions have all had a strong writing and communications component. I was a senior writer/editor for the federally funded SAMHSA FASD Center for Excellence, a fetal alcohol syndrome project managed by Northrop Grumman, where I produced project materials, donor reports and proposals. From the late nineties to the mid-aughts, I served as Executive Director of the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), a newly minted state-focused association that was closely allied with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In my six years there, the budget grew from 145,000 to 1.5 million—primarily CDC grants—and we produced a host of materials from newsletters to issue briefs to journal articles to advocacy manuals. I have a Masters of Public Health from Yale and a BA from Rutgers in political science.
