  Terry Freelander is a After graduating from Middlesex University, I spent four years in the graphic design industry, gaining experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Quark Express and also developing an appreciation for basic design principles. Some of my work involved creating architectural illustrations from an illustrator's perspective line drawings, using photoshop to create photorealistic images. I also produced brochure material for Property Development companies using the aforementioned illustrations. This developed into producing promotional material for EstateAgents and other companies within the property sector. After four years, I made the decision to change careers and undertook a PGCE qualification at the University of East London. My main subject over the past 20 years has been English but I have also taught Media, Drama,Computer Science, History and RE. In the early years of my experience as a teacher, I was placed in charge of the school yearbook and would manage a team of students each year to take photographs and document the events of the year. We would use Adobe Photoshop and Indesign to design and produce the yearbook, preparing and packaging it for both print and digital production. Over the years, I have maintained my graphic design skills, which I now use to produce most of the schools print and digital media and the school website. Other responsibilities that I have undertaken include: Head of Year and Head of Department for English. I progressed through assistant roles in both positions and was Head of department for 7 years before switching to Literacy Across the Curriculum Coordinator and Learning Technologies Lead. My experience with Design technologies and Educational Technologies (E.g. Google Workspace) has led to recent roles teaching Media and Computer Science. I believe that I have many transferable skills from graphic design to the design, leadership and delivery of curricula and management of teams. Recent developments within the public education sector have brought me to the decision that it is time for a change of direction and I am, therefore, looking for a position that will enable me to make use of my transferable skills in a new but not entirely different sector.
