In my 12+ years’ experience working in an administrative setting, I have developed robust communication and team working skills. This has been an asset in my teaching career as I have been able to effectively collaborate within my own team to develop resources and schemes for learning. I have also enjoyed good working relationships with colleagues cross college, which has enabled me to achieve an action research project in my first year as well as delivery of CPD training and a productive ‘whole college’ approach to supporting our learners. Finally, I regularly work with Learning Support Assistants across most of my groups and I have fostered effective, collaborative partnerships with all of my Assistants. I am the recipient of an Education Training Foundation Research grant for outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. I am currently leading an Action Research Project of 6 English lecturers. We investigated the benefits of freewriting in the GCSE and Functional Skills English curriculum. Outcomes were numerous for both teachers and learners.
