In my current role - I am the dietetic team lead for diabetes, I also line manage the diabetes dietitian / educators. Due to service demands and as a diabetes educator I lead and co-ordinate the diabetes education programmes and support the QA processes. At our trust we deliver In-house type 2 diabetes education, carbohydrate counting workshops, structured courses - Xpert diabetes / Xpert insulin (type 2 diabetes), DAFNE - standard course ( type 1 diabetes), DAFNE insulin pump course, specialist multi- disciplinary clinics including type 1 diabetes clinic and insulin pump ( CSII) clinics across Birmingham community which consists of a diverse ethnic population, where my multi-lingual skills have come to great use. I also run GP workshops to promote and raise awareness of the education / services we provide and teach healthcare professionals on our diabetes course.
