AVIATION WEATHER METEOROLOGIST. • helping pilots navigate the complexity of the atmosphere. • work with the Air-Traffic Controllers to make sure that pilots get to their destinations safely through provision of weather related elements. • analysing models, Seaward (Ocean Analysis) Charts, preparing Flight Folders, Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAFs) and METARS. • issuing SPECI and SIGMETS. • giving flight briefs to pilots before they take off so that they can have idea of the weather enroute. • giving warnings on Tropical Cyclones, Thunderstorms, Visibility, Wind Shear and Turbulence from pilot reports.
