  Susan Goldman is a Susan J. Goldman is an American contemporary visual artist known for bold, elegant, multi-layered, color field prints. Goldman’s combination of traditional and digital mediums; including monotypes, woodcuts, screenprints and archival inkjet prints, alters reality to prioritize the relationships of color. Goldman’s large-scale print installations of abstracted flowers, amphorae and geometric shapes shift the 19th century two-point perspective into a single-point, aerial perspective by flattening the image and seeing it from above. Playfully excavating decorative Victorian art, with its ornate shapes and patterns, and breathing new life into it with a modernist lilt, Goldman transforms the still life flower in vase into a dynamic visual hybrid of colorful intrigue. She curated Forward Press: 21st American Printmaking (2019) a major national exhibition at American University Museum. Since 2005 Goldman’s, Founding Director of Lily Press, collaborative projects have included Elizabeth Catlett, Sam Gilliam, Victor Ekpuk, Keiko Hara, Jun Lee Sylvia Snowden, EJ Montgomery, Eve Stockton. Goldman received her BFA from Indiana University-Bloomington 1981, and MFA from Arizona State University-Tem¬pe 1984. Goldman taught printmaking at the Corcoran, MICA, and Georgetown University (1991-97). She was the Master Printer/Program Director at Pyramid Atlantic (1990-2000). She was an Adjunct Professor/Master Printer Navigation Press at George Mason University (2000-2012). Goldman received a 2011-12 NEA Grant for Midwest Matrix , a groundbreaking documentary on fine art printmaking tradition of the American Midwest. Selected exhibitions (2020-2019) include: Arts In Embassies US Ambassador’s Residence, Ankara, Turkey; International Print Exchange Victoria, Australia; CU Art Museum University of Colorado-Boulder, Clinical Center Arts Center National Institutes of Health, University of Maryland Global Campus, Massoni Gallery, Longview Gallery, McLean Project for the Arts, Havana Biennale, Cuba, Jerusalem Biennale, Israel.
