She took up in January 2015 the role of Executive Director of the University of Hertfordshire Science Learning Centre, which provided high quality professional development for science educators across central and south - east England. The Centre now offers programmes across STEM Education. As the STEMNET Regional Networks Manager for London Sue led a team of STEM advisors and STEM Ambassadors coordinators in delivery of programmes to inspire young people from all backgrounds across London to enjoy and achieve in STEM subjects. Work undertaken independently includes a regional management role for STEMNET; authoring for the Targeted Initiative in Science and Maths Education, (TISME), a publication to encourage links between teaching and research; and varied research, authoring and management commissions for the National STEM Centre and Myscience. As Head of STEM Networks at the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), Sue led a team with national roles for subjects and school specialisms. The team successfully implemented programmes to improve outcomes in STEM subjects. These were funded by stakeholders from the public, third and commercial sectors including the Department for Education, the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Lego Education, O2, the Institute of Physics, STEMNET, National Grid and the Curriculum and Qualifications Authority. Before leading STEM programmes at SSAT, Sue led national programmes to improve the impact of science specialist schools. Local authority advisory roles involved providing advice and support for school improvement and lead responsibility for science. Sue also led programmes on whole school learning: providing for schools opportunities to work across phases, undertake action research and develop innovative approaches. Prior to this, Sue taught and held leadership roles in science in varied school contexts.
