He is particularly interested in developing medical devices for musculoskeletal tissue regeneration by utilizing effective strategies that combine knowledge from material science, chemistry & biology. Dr. Bodhak was born in Kolkata, India, in 1982. He received BS in Ceramic Eng. from Univ. of Calcutta (India) in 2004, MS in Materials Eng. from IIT Kanpur (India) in 2006, and PhD in Materials Sc. from Washington State University (USA) in 2010. In his PhD research, Dr. Bodhak has utilized electro-thermal polarization technique to stimulate bone cell attachment and growth by modifying the surface properties of hydroxyapatite bioceramics. After finishing PhD, Dr. Bodhak was accepted for prestigious 'JSPS Fellowship' at the National Inst. for Materials Sc. (NIMS) in Japan. As a JSPS fellow, he successfully developed a DNA-calcium phosphate composite coated hydroxyapatite/collagen nanocomposite which was demonstrated as an effective bioresorbable bone implant capable of delivering therapeutic genes for faster repairing of bone defects. In 2012, Dr. Bodhak received prestigious National Research Council (NRC) Fellowship. As a NRC Fellow, he worked jointly at the National Inst. of Standards & Tech. (NIST) and National Inst. of Health (NIH), USA and successfully developed a high-throughput in-vivo transplantation assay method for screening of osteogenic potential of different stem cells populations & scaffold formulations. Dr. Bodhak is currently working as a staff scientist in Medical Device dept. at Evonik Corporation. Among many awards, Dr. Bodhak has been awarded 'Acta Student Award' for his PhD paper published in Acta Biomaterialia journal in 2009.To date, Dr. Bodhak is author of 30 scholarly articles, cited over 530 times by different leading scientists across the world.
