Stuart is currently Interaction Lab manager at City University London, a post he took over in May 2013. The Interaction Lab is a human centred design consultancy based within City University London (UK). The lab is the commercial arm of the Centre for Human Centred Interaction Design and the Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice. The lab acts as a conduit taking the knowledge / talent within the University into the business world. We support both commercial and academic projects with services such as design research, interaction design, service design, information architecture and usability evaluation. The Interaction Labs aim is to become synonymous with human centred design and innovation. Stuart is a commercially experienced Design Researcher adept at simplifying complicated experiences through the application of best practices in interaction design. This is supported by his practical knowledge of web technologies. Stuart is also a skilled research facilitator and adaptable to whatever situations may arise. Stuart has coordinated user research for both web and mobile products. This research has taken place within labs, client sites and in-context. Stuart also has experience conducting field research, e.g. guerrilla testing and Vox Pops. Prior to running the Interaction Lab, Stuart worked in a commercial consultancy environment where he facilitated projects for major brands. Stuart was drawn to working at the University as it has allowed him to explore more creative / interesting projects. Stuart is a hand’s on practitioner that is responsible for conducting the majority of the labs work on client projects. His role also involves business development and the practical coordination and facilitation of the labs UX projects on a day to day basis. This involves liaising with clients, coordinating participant recruitment, supporting Student Consultants and managing lab facilities. NOTE: I changed my name from Stuart Norman in 2014 for personal reasons.
