Steve Brooks is a I am a qualified and highly experienced mechanical engineer with commercial experience across diverse industries including oil and gas, off highway automotive, domestic appliances and Scientific Instrumentation. I have a knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards, design for manufacture principles and I am a certified user of Solidworks. Since graduating with a 1st Class BSc(Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering Design from Manchester Metropolitan University I have worked as both in-house permanent staff and as a contractor across a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, domestic appliances, off highway equipment and lifting and handling equipment. I believe this demonstrates my skill set allows me to adapt quickly to different industries and working practices. Throughout my career I have worked closely with quality departments to ensure new products adhere to internal Quality Management Plans as well as international, military and defence manufacturing standards and codes such as DEF-STAN, BS, ANSI, ISO & ASME. I have both managed and assisted with investigations and have resolved issues identified with components, including liaising with manufacturers to improve both new and existing designs, documenting and actioning changes through Engineering Change Request (ECR) procedures and post-implementation monitoring.
