Stephen Slone joined the UMSL Athletics staff as the Director of Sports Medicine in July 2020. He came to UMSL after eight years at Lindenwood University-Belleville, including the last five in which he was the Director of Sports Medicine. While serving as Director of Sports Medicine at Lindenwood-Belleville, Slone managed an athletic training staff of 14 certified athletic trainers to assure coverage of the school's 900-plus student-athletes in more than 30 varsity and seven junior varsity sports, events, camps and practices. Slone joined Lindenwood Belleville in 2012 as the men's basketball head athletic trainer before being named the department's director in 2015. While at Lindenwood-Belleville, Slone was also an adjunct professor and faculty instructor in the athletic training program. Slone earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Lindenwood University in 2010 and a Master's of Science in Kinesiology from Central Arkansas in 2012. While at Central Arkansas he worked as a graduate assistant in athletic training. Slone has been a board certified athletic trainer since 2010. He is also an American Red Cross certified professional rescuer and is a certified instructor for professional rescuer, first aid and AED/CPR. Slone is also a Graston Technique IASTM provider. In addition to his current duties, Slone has volunteered as an athletic trainer for RBI Baseball Association (Reviving Baseball in the Inner-cities). He was also an approved clinical instructor for Saint Louis University ATP.
