He has worked in Victoria, ACT & UK in a variety of settings including community health, acute paediatric hospitals and managing the development of preventative services. Stephen has consistently returned to work in early childhood intervention because of the scope to develop collaborative relationships with families, supporting the development of young children with developmental disabilities. In the last few years at Noah’s Ark, Stephen has been Team Leader of Early Childhood Intervention Teams in Melbourne’s culturally and linguistically diverse outer Western Suburbs, and since 2015, he started Noah’s Ark’s first team outside of Victoria in Canberra. Several years ago, Stephen began implementing the Routines-Based Interview as part of his work with families, following a recognition that the goal setting process needed to be meaningful, related to child participation in everyday activities and helped families to think beyond just wanting their child to walk/talk better or be ready for school. In 2014 he attended the RBI Certification Institute facilitated by Dr Robin McWilliam in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Stephen is now a Certified Trainer and ancillary member of Dr McWilliam’s RAM Group, with specialist knowledge in training early childhood intervention professionals in the Routines-Based Interview. Stephen remains passionate about the need for quality goal setting to achieve positive outcomes for children with developmental disabilities and their families.
