I began as a casual worker in 2009. Soon after being hired, I acquired a full-time position, which I maintained for several years. After starting my personal training business (seen above) in 2015, I began to reduce my hours from full-time as my business grew. Currently I work part-time hours on the weekend in the Crisis Program.Moving from Chilliwack to Vancouver opened up a lot of opportunities for work in my field. So much so that I was able to begin working with those in need at the other end of the age spectrum. Initially my thoughts were to continue on as a Resident Care Attendant as this was my experience thus far but life had other plans. I applied for several positions including those beyond my resume. The only replies I received for the postings I applied to were from organizations that served a younger demographic. I was soon offered a position as a youth worker in a group home working for Connexus Family & Children Services providing direct support for youth 18 years of age and younger. It was new to me but I fell in love with the idea of impacting the younger generation and haven't looked back since.Once again I was fortunate to secure a position straight from my practicum. I began a new path, which involved me providing direct care for the elderly in an assisted living environment. I was in my early 20's at the time and full of energy but possessed a natural ability to connect with those much older than myself. I grew a lot during this time and learned how precious life is. The conversations full of amazing stories, wisdom, and laughter that I was blessed to share with the residents I supported are among the few things I was most grateful for within this chapter in my life.Working with a small group of male clients (ages 18 to 60+) with acquired-brain-injuries in an assisted living setting. Somehow I managed to land this position while I was only half way through completing my education following the completion of my community support practicum (my first practicum of two) at Abby Therapeutic Services. I worked two twelve hour shifts every weekend for almost a full year while I went to school Monday to Friday during the week. This unique job added valuable experience to my name that I still draw upon to this day.It doesn't feel like work when you'd gladly do it for free, which makes personal training a natural fit for me. I possess a unique mix of creativity, passion, dedication, drive, and a lifetime experience as an athlete and fitness enthusiast that sets me apart from the pack. I have a natural ability to motivate, connect, and inspire others around me to reach their potential and goals, both physically and in life.
