I did a PhD after all, so clearly, I love a good project. The bigger the better. The harder, the more there is to learn. The more impactful for a business or society, the more rewarding the work. Now, it’s time for me to put my problem-solving skills (and many others!) to good use as a consultant or analyst. I’m looking forward to my next chapter: a challenge, an intellectual puzzle, a collaborative work environment, and projects that make a tangible impact. There’s more to me than a PhD: • I have consistently been told that I’m very easy to work and collaborate with. I’m a team player, willing to jump in and learn something new to help the team drive forward. • I have enviable organizational skills. You know those people who remember everything, take diligent notes, and follow up to make sure no detail gets overlooked? That’s me. • Time management goes hand-in-hand with organizational skills. During the first 3 years of my PhD, I was a full-time student, worked part-time as a research assistant for a professor, and worked part-time for Paint Nite/Yaymaker. We all have 24 hours in a day, so I learned how to maximize my time and minimize distractions. • The key to communication is knowing the audience. I’ve presented my research at academic conferences, taught undergraduate courses, proposed fully remote solutions to a conference committee when Covid ruined the in-person plans, and interviewed police officers. I’m adaptable, flexible, and know how to tailor information to suit my audience.
