Stan Battersby Email & Phone Number | Have you ever had an experience that changed your life? The OPEC embargo of 1973 was that experience for me. I was in Florida and experienced the rationing of gas and long gas lines. I saw a violent fight erupt in the middle of the road when a guy tried to cut into the gas line. What was going on? How could a country so far away impact my community? I met a tug boat captain around the same time who told me he had been having trouble off-loading refined gas for over a month. I started to question my belief in the altruism of our leaders and the big oil companies. I committed then and there to find a better way. My lifelong passion for energy independence for myself and my community has led me to search for new ways of creating viable low cost energy. I firmly believe that our society’s ability to provide cheap energy that respects the environment will allow all of us to thrive. Someone recently said I remind them of Dr. Emmett Brown in Back to the Future. I laughed; as there is some truth in it. I design new ways with existing technologies and give creative ideas practical expression. I want to be on the shop floor with the engineers and operatives and see the result of my vision. Motivating landowners and stake holders so they support our energy independence gives me hope for the future. I may not be building a time machine. However, I am building a future of thriving communities independent from large oil companies and federal intervention.
