However, when you add in the fact that you are managing the logistics of transporting cargo across the ocean into foreign ports with very different operations and regulations, which has an extra layer of complexity, it becomes even more of a challenge. However, this is a challenge that I have adeptly handled for more than 15 years, and I am confident that there is no challenge I can’t handle. You will see in my experience detailed below that I enjoyed a successful career in the US Army and while many people have no idea that the Army has its own fleet of cargo transport vessels, this is where I spent the earlier part of my Army career, managing over 300 annual shipments among 4 different vessels that went all over the world to places such as Australia, Thailand, Japan, Guam and the Philippines. This experience helped me gain an understanding of the importance of detailed documentation in accordance with each country’s guidelines. However, for the last 8 years of my career, I have been planning air, land and sea movement of key supplies in support of critical operations in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The breadth of my experience has helped me develop my strategic and analytical approach to problem solving. In my leadership experience, I have found that when you take care of your people, provide them with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed, at that point your job as a leader is to get out of their way and watch them achieve their own success. I am also willing and able to jump in and work beside them to provide coaching and mentorship, to ensure they understand the expectations and to ensure the job gets done. Though I specialize in marine logistics, I have overseen all aspects of logistics operations, there is not one part of the supply chain process that I can’t lead, and I am looking forward to continuing to use these skills in the next chapter of my career. As I prepare for my Army career to come to an end in August of 2024, I am looking to relocate to the San Antonio, TX area, and find a role where I can leverage the breadth of my logistics, supply chain management and port operations experience.
