Sonja Tilton Asp Cit Email & Phone Number | I’ve most currently worked as a dedicated safety professional alongside my other safety colleagues and managers to oversee and manage the safety operations of Nevada and Utah as well as the western region of Commercial Metals Company. My tenure in the department only served to fuel my passion for safety and safety culture. The primary goal is to maintain and promote a safety culture in our organization. This includes, but is not limited to; collaborating with other employees, managers, and executives in many departments to build our company safety as a whole. Building a companywide safety culture incorporates educating others on safety through an array of methods; development and presentation of programs, policies and regular safety meetings covering a wide range of topics. An important part of enhancing company safety is the pursuit of my own continuing education. My positions have incorporated a wide range of duties that support the company including acquiring and maintaining good standing with the USDOT and building a safety program in a new company facility from the ground up. Safety is equal parts collaboration and independent work, requiring constant quick thinking, research, and problem solving. I’m always willing to take on new challenges as our department is constantly faced with new scenarios to navigate. My work in the safety department in combination with previous years of experience in account management and collaboration with engineering and contracts department has helped me develop a well-rounded set of skills that will serve as an asset to any organization’s safety team. Such duties have included, bringing our company to USDOT compliance status and training our employees on USDOT requirements, responding to, processing, and following up on all types of incidents, accidents, near misses, and writing programs and policies that serve to educate and train our employees as means of accident/incident prevention, along with annual and incident reporting to OSHA. I’m always willing to take on new challenges as our department is constantly faced with new scenarios to navigate. My work in the safety department in combination with previous years of experience in account management and supporting our engineering and contracts department has helped me develop a well-rounded set of skills that will serve as an asset to any organization’s safety team.
