Soniya Gupta Email & Phone Number | I am a Graduate student majoring in Exercise science. I've always wanted to major in exercise science at Adelphi University (Jan 2022 - Dec 2023) since I've always had a strong interest in studying exercise physiology, which dates back to my undergrad degree as a Physical Therapist (India). Knowing about exercise physiology will aid me in providing the best possible care to my patients. I feel I was born to make a difference in people's lives. This is especially true for me because I have a strong desire to help individuals with disabilities regain a normal quality of life. One instance of my life on which I would like to have limelight on is when I treated a spinal cord injury case (paraplegia). At the time I was working with another therapist who had expertise of more than 20 years. With only 1 year of experience of working in the field, I was able to rehabilitate the patient's more than half of functional capacity within the time span of 5 months. This made me gain self confidence as well as the confidence of my patients. It made me realize that nothing is impossible with hard work and dedication. I Keep myself updated with the ongoing advancement and research in exercise physiology. Moreover, I am keen on enhancing my physical therapy rehabilitation protocols knowledge as it is in my area of interest. I keep learning and advancing my skills through attending various workshops which focus more on the neurological and the sports related aspects. After completing my masters in exercise physiology, I plan on working as a paralympic or a neuro physical therapist. I would also like to contribute to Non profit organizations as a part of my professional career.
