Skye Dorsett is a I am a Graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2009, with a Bachelor of Science in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I worked as a Teacher of the Hearing Impaired for 4 and a half years, before making the decision to return to graduate school to pursue a new profession. I am currently a rising third year graduate student at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill, seeking a clinical doctorate in audiology. My dream is to work in a hospital setting and within a comprehensive team of professionals to help children identified with hearing loss receive amplification and early intervention services as soon as possible. In addition, I would like to focus my efforts on under-served communities and cultures that may be unaware of the significant long term effects of childhood hearing loss and the family's important role as the main communicators and advocates for the child with hearing loss. While my passion is children with hearing loss, I am also passionate about all aspects of audiology and hearing loss including adults with hearing loss, vestibular assessment and treatment, hearing preservation, hearing aids and cochlear implants. I am in search of a 4th year audiology externship/ residency placement at a location that can offer a variety of clinical experiences.
