  Sigrid Svedberg is a My journey within the packaging business started over 20 years ago since then I have focused on sustainability, circularity, and renewable wood fibre materials. Today I work with EVLR International which is a Swedish start-up, developing products in sustainable materials from renewable sources that can replace plastics. The first product from EVLR is FibreStrap. We want to replace plastic cable ties and zip ties, with wood fibre-based cable ties. Plastic cable ties end up in oceans and beaches – and sadly also around the necks of seals, pinnipeds, birds, turtles, and other wildlife around the globe. It can’t be reasonable that we manufacture a product for single use that lasts hundreds of years. We need to make a change now. In my career I have designed packages for multinational brands, optimized, created, and implemented packaging concepts world-wide, managed packaging for global brands’ complex supply chains. I have led and developed business models and structures with focus on circular packaging design. On the leadership side, which is very close to my heart, I have founded an advanced high performance design team, designing in new wood fibre-based materials to develop solutions to replace plastic packaging. I have also worked as a functional leader for +100 designers in the matrix organisation. I have commercialised new products and services, and with full P&L reasonability taken it from zero to breakeven. My drive is to make good for our planet. First goal is to offer a product that can reduce plastics in our oceans if the product would end up there, but foremost offer an alternative that can be recycled or reused – and use less material compared to the plastic products. Ultimately my goals are to provide a sustainable business that is regenerative and supports biodiversity.
