I have a passion for teaching and learning. My teaching philosophy is a derivative of my own learnings as a student, as a researcher, and as an educator of adult learners. My philosophy can best be summarized by the following three tenets. 1. Learning is not a “one-size-fits-all” process. I recognize and appreciate each learner as a unique individual who needs a secure and stimulating environment in which to study and grow. 2. Be more facilitator than pontificator. In my capacity as architect of the learning experience, it is my job to guide and facilitate knowledge development by providing access to information rather than acting as the sole source of information. 3. Learning is a social, democratic process that belongs to everyone, and we are, therefore, joint stakeholders of the outcomes. Thus, it is of paramount importance to exercise mutual respect for the presence and participation of one another within our learning environment.
