Part of my working career has been in social-ecological systems thinking, rural livelihoods and ecosystem services, particularly in a developing country context. This underpinned my role as an Environmental Researcher at a research institute attached to the Law Faculty at UCT where I economically valued rural peoples reliance on the land in an effort to support communal land rights of rural people in the face of displacement. More recently, I have worked as a Management Consultant with a focus on the South African energy mix and a Research Consultant with a focus on the circular economy, waste economy and green value chains. I have skills in multi-stakeholder liaison, communicating technical subjects to diverse audience, analysis of legislation and policy, and over 5 years of designing and carrying out research. I am passionate about inclusive and sustainable business and believe that creating long-term shareholder value through a well-entrenched sustainability program, which emphasizes the circular economy, is key to building a resilient business and strengthening brand value. I am passionate about creating shared value and finding sustainable solutions to complex issues through research, listening and effective communication to understand context and shared learnings.
