I spent 8 years teaching business courses part time at Orange Coast College and loved every moment of it. In 2018, I left industry to launch a completely new concept in cat care after traveling for years on business trips without an appealing cat boarding option. Club Cat, Orange County's first and only truly luxury cat hotel, is dedicated to serving the most underserved yet most deserving (not to mention adorable!) segment of the pet population. Club Cat opened its doors March of 2019, a year before the pandemic began. Our gorgeous hotel not only survived the pandemic but is thriving thanks to its amazing customer base of helicopter cat parents like me. Club Cat is expanding! I grew up as a musical theater performer but am a dancer at my core. What I learned performing in shows in LA gave me a sense of self confidence that has been instrumental in my professional pursuits. On the personal side, I love a good challenge, especially pursuing areas of interest not necessarily natural to me. Every challenge has taught me something I use as an entrepreneur: I flew privately as a VFR pilot out of Van Nuys Airport in my early 20's until I ran out of money in grad school. That taught me the importance of prioritizing: Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. I ran three marathons in my 30's (Long Beach, San Diego Rock-n-Roll and LA). Haven't attempted another since but still am an avid runner. Training for marathons taught me the importance of strategic planning and pacing yourself. You don't want to blow yourself up at mile 20. And yes, I speak from experience. I have a Brown belt in Krav Maga, an Israeli Self Defense system. I did not know how to make a fist to punch someone properly until I started taking classes in my mid-forties. I was terrible at first and it was embarrassing and everyone thought I looked like I was dancing. But now I can beat most of them up so how's that for ROI? I am a writer at my core. It took me a decade of writing and editing but I finally self-published my first literary fiction novel, Bequeathed, in 2016 available on Amazon. It is based on a true story, family lore that was begging to be written. Writing taught me that I can finish what I start no matter how long it takes if I commit. Most importantly, I am a wife, mother, and cat & dog mama. And a Jesus freak.
