Scott Phillips Email & Phone Number | I have worked in social research over 30 years. With the Australian Public Service (1986-1998), I led policy and evaluation on international development, international education, youth homelessness and multiculturalism. Subsequently, I have worked in the university and private sectors. At RMIT (1998–2004), as Associate Professor (Youth Affairs) and Head of Department (Justice and Youth Studies), I researched: Victoria’s Youth Strategy; community-based approaches to drug abuse among young people; multicultural drugs education strategies; inclusion and wellbeing in local football clubs; and a socio-economic impact assessment of the 2003 Victorian bushfires. Beyond RMIT (2004 onwards) I entered the social research industry. With TNS I led projects for Australian and State Government Departments, covering education, employment, small business and human services. With Futureye and Success Works I led/conducted a Social Impact Assessment of Red Dust Issues in Whyalla; Climate Change Policy Options for BHP Billiton; Evaluation of the Non-Government Organisation Treatment Grants Program; Gladstone Regional Vision 2028 and Action Plan; Community Vision and Plan for Whyalla to 2030; Casey Municipal Health and Well-being Plan; and a Review of Place-Based Approaches to Improving Aboriginal Outcomes. In 2011, I established an independent social research consultancy. Projects have included a Social Impact Assessment and Community Forums about mining in Iron Knob, South Australia; Evaluating the Active Service Model for Aged Care in Victoria; Developing a Strategic Framework to advance Deakin University's Community Partnerships and Collaboration to increase Participation of People from Low Socioeconomic Backgrounds in Higher Education; urban focused Social Impact Assessment; evaluation of parenting programs for refugees; integrated service planning for community services. Further dimensions of my work involve facilitating business development and strategic planning.
