Savannah Thomas Email & Phone Number | Upon starting the nursing program at Emory University, I was enrolled in a variety of rigorous courses and clinical rotations, all of which taught me a great deal about the American healthcare system and nursing, as well as helping me to learn more about myself and where my passion lies. I was able to quickly determine that Maternity and Reproductive Health were the subjects I am most passionate about, which led me to pursue a career as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, and eventual Certified Nurse Midwife. Currently, I am a Registered Nurse II on the Labor and Delivery unit at Northside Hospital Atlanta, the busiest Labor and Delivery unit in the country, and the first Level IV Maternal Care Center. My current areas of research are in maternal and birth disparities in minority populations and social determinants of health that affect birthing outcomes. I plan to continue my research in these subjects throughout the advancement of my career and my education, and I plan to apply this knowledge and understanding of health disparities to each patient I care for. My goal is to merge my passion for maternal health, reproductive health, and family-centered care, with my love of learning, my intrinsic drive and ambition, and my genuine care for people to provide the highest quality care possible to my patients.
