Sarah Solley Email & Phone Number | During past eight years in elementary education, I have taught students in grades 1-5 in both inclusive co-teaching classroom environments and as a consultant teacher. Each year, I worked to develop individual interventions to meet the needs of my students, as well as differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all of the students in the classroom. In addition to teaching, I have served as a member of the Batavia City School District’s School Based Intervention Team (SBIT), which is a team approach to matching students to both in school and out of school interventions and supports needed to attain academic and/or emotional growth. I also served as a member to the district’s Response to Intervention (RTI) team, and the school’s Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) team. I have also finished all of my required course work as a doctoral student in the field of Curriculum, Instruction, and the Sciences of Learning with a concentration in Literacy Education at the University at Buffalo. In addition, I have also been employed by the University to supervise Master Degree candidates as they fulfill their tutoring requirements for their Literacy degrees and serve as a Tutor-Parent Liaison for their summer tutoring program. Further, I am a member of the International Literacy Association (ILA) and the Literacy Research Association (LRA), as well as, attended and presented at the LRA conference in December, 2013. This past spring (03/2015), I also presented a paper at the Equity and Social Justice Conference. Throughout my experiences both academically and professionally, I have also developed a very strong work ethic. I have worked cooperatively with my colleagues in the classroom and have been a crucial member to team making decisions regarding the success of students. I have also taken initiative to participate in professional development outside of the school district to ensure that I stay up to date with the current trends surrounding education.
