I completed my doctorate in physics at the University of Queensland, in collaboration with the Australian National University, focusing on work in quantum optics - integrating a narrow bandwidth single photon source with a quantum memory. I deeply believe in the collaborative nature of science and innovation and strive to see diversity and equity in these areas through my work on the Membership Engagement and Development Council of Optica (previously OSA). Previously I have also trained and worked as a high school teacher, where I developed a particular soft-spot for engaging underrepresented groups in STEM, especially early on in their education.
