Sarah Kirk Email & Phone Number | If I had to summarize myself into a few lines, I would say that I am strive to make the world brighter every day. Professionally, this means that I aim to meet the diverse and abundant needs of my students, families and staff members. Personally, this means that I choose happiness on a daily basis. I encourage, I add positivity, and I seek out the merit in all. The children I work with are a constant reminder that positivity and goodness are innate. We are born to bring light into the world. I have been the School Counselor for 7 years. I focus on serving every student's social, emotional, academic, and career development needs utilizing a comprehensive, data-driven counseling program. I have a heart for creating and implementing programs and interventions that meet the needs of the whole child. These efforts have resulted in the creation of innovative supports including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS); trauma-informed practices; restorative responses to behavior; and a school-wide kindness initiative. I received my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Science and my master’s degree in Counseling from Oklahoma State University. I served as the Membership Chairperson for the Oklahoma School Counselor Association from 2015-2019. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the American School Counselor Association. I consider myself a lifelong learner and take advantage of professional development and advocacy opportunities as much as possible. In 2019, the School Counseling Program I developed became a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) through the American School Counselor Association. As Oklahoma's 2018 School Counselor of the Year and an ASCA 2019 National School Counselor of the Year Finalist, I hope to positively advocate for the profession specifically by working to provide equity and access of school counseling services for all students.
