  Sarah Garrett is a I am a research scientist who has worked in the pharmaceutical Industry for the last 11 years .My primary focus in recent years has been to drive a research project to identify a novel target for Fibrosis from its inception to full- target validation. This entailed contributing to the design of the high-throughput assay for the screen, collaborating with high-throughput assay specialists to run the screen and analyse the data to pick candidate proteins for follow-up based on screen data combined with current understanding of the role of the protein from the literature. This was followed by contributing to the design, planning and execution of experiments to build a strong technical and scientific validation package for the protein in the context of respiratory disease. During all stages I have been involved in presenting the scientific findings to decision boards and been actively involved in the decision process to endorse the protein as a novel respiratory target. I have a wealth of technical expertise including experience in molecular and cellular biology with a particular interest in using viral expression systems in primary cells to analyse the phenotypic effect of over-expression/knockdown of proteins on cellular function and phenotype. Read-outs studied include apoptosis, proliferation, migration and differentiation of cells.
