Ruth Clark Email & Phone Number | July 2018 note. Stitching Arts and More has now been open for almost 4 months. I have a few students and many more people showing interest in taking various classes, in the Fall. I have also spoken with a Mom who does Home Schooling and we will talk about Stitching Arts becoming a formal part of some families Home Schooling, come September. I have enjoyed the variety of sewing projects that have come through the door. From graduation and bridal gowns to mending SeaDoo covers to hemming pants to working on hunting vests. I never know what new and interesting projects will be brought in each day. Fall 2017 - After a Summer of speaking with a wide range of people in my local community, it is clear that there is a strong renewed interest in Machine sewing and other thread/yarn Arts. There is also frustration from individuals who want to teach some of these skills but do not have the space at home to do so. The right building has been found and I am now on my way to establish a teaching consortium that will be called ‘Stitching Arts and More’. I will also continue my work to enhance the development of a strong niche within the Fashion/garment Industry to properly serve Individuals with disabilities. The core goal with these lessons will be to help Design students and Designers to learn how to make Quality, Professional, Stylish AND functional clothing for Individuals with disAbilities. In some way, disability touches all of us in our personal and family lives, our professional lives or our social lives. Also, Individuals with disabilities are taking their rightful place as Business owners, employees, teachers, Doctors and Politicians. Yet who is designing quality adaptive clothing for them? I am excited to watch our Stitching Arts learning centre become established and grow.
