Having done her Ph.D in the area of School Education from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), one of India's most reputed institutions, Dr Shukla currently works with NCERT, the research and training wing of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. In the past, Dr Shukla has taught Psychology for over three years to undergraduate students at two well-known colleges of Delhi University -- Lady Shriram College for Women (LSR) and Gargi College. Dr Shukla has done her M.Phil and Ph.D level research in JNU, under the guidance of Prof. Ajit K Mohanty, a world-renowned psycho-linguist. Her Ph.D thesis focused on intrinsic motivation and stress as an interactive effect of perceived self-determination among students of Grade IX-XII. In her M.Phil dissertation, titled 'The Burdened Childhood: A Case Study of Primary School Children in Delhi', Dr Shukla presented a research on policy implications and field situations in the light of the Yashpal Committee Report - 'Learning Without Burden'. Dr Shukla managed the Conference Secretariat in organizing an international conference on multilingual education in Feb.2008. Dr Shukla's interests and expertise lie in consulting, teaching, counselling and training besides curriculum designing and research. She has been awarded the Prof. Durganand Sinha Best Dissertation Award for her Doctoral work at the annual conference of The National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), held in New Delhi in February 2011.
