  Ron Sorace is a I left UCI at the end of July 2020 in the wake of budget cuts resulting from the expenditures for online teaching after the virus outbreak. Although I am an "old guy", I am still in very good health and quite active. I was invited to return to Raytheon in fall 2021 and did so. Despite sterling reviews, there was a downturn in business resulting in layoff in 2024. I am still seeking to be an active contributor and, hence, seeking meaning work. This includes development of algorithms, models, programs, and designs for a variety of areas in which I have worked. I do not profess to be a "walking encyclopedia", but a few of my past bosses called me the "quick study". I built a rewarding career based on technical diversity and interdisciplinary skills and had the ability and background to quickly become expert in new areas. A few of my employers found this valuable, particularly when coupled with mentoring skills for junior staff members. I began my career in a Navy laboratory designing low-speed digital circuitry, performing logic design, and writing programs in assembly language to interface with the digital circuitry. I also worked on a variety of simulation and signal processing projects. When I left that position, I worked in communications program development while pursuing graduate studies. After my first doctorate in engineering at UCLA, I worked at Bell Laboratories for a short while where my activities consisted primarily of the development of firmware for speech algorithms. During my years in the aerospace industry, I worked in a number of areas including design and simulation of communication and imaging systems, signal processing, detection and modulation, tomography, microwave and antenna systems, applied stochastic processes, geolocation, etc. I have developed computer programs in a variety of languages and formats to support a variety of analysis, simulation, and design activities. I have published papers in a variety of areas and hold a number of patents and awards in such areas as microwave systems, phased array antennas, and communication electronics. Also, I have taught a variety of courses at various schools including CSULA, UCLA Extension, LA Southwest College, Loyola Marymount University. I was a lecturer in mathematics at UC Irvine and have been a senior contributor at Raytheon in El Segundo and have also been previously employed by Boeing Space Systems. I have held TS/SSBI/SCI clearances with polygraph. The SCI was reinstated while at Raytheon, and the TS investigation was complete for reinstatement at time of layoff.
