Roman Shayduk Email & Phone Number | I hold a Ph.D degree in material science. I did my Ph. D. work at Paul-Drude-Institute for solid state electronics in Berlin. The work was dedicated to Molecular Beam Epitaxy growth of Ge2Sb2Te5/GaSb phase change materials. The thin film structure characterization has been carried out by means of in-situ Surface X-ray Diffraction (SXRD) at BESSY storage ring. Besides my Ph.D related experiments during this period I was actively involved in supporting scientists from Paul- Drude-Institute and external groups acting as a “beamline support scientist” at PHARAO beamline at BESSY. During the first post doc period in the group Ultrafast Dynamics In Condensed Matter (Potsdam University) I was in charge of design and construction of a unique beamline end station for high repetition rate picosecond pump&probe time-resolved X-ray diffraction. Here I developed and implemented a complete time-resolved photon acquisition scheme, characterized the fs laser X-ray pulses timing and carried out a set of experiments in the field of fs-laser induced coherent phonons synthesis and X-ray detection. T At DESY Nanolab I designed and built mobile pump-probe nanosecond surface X-ray diffraction (SXRD) setup from zero. The setup is dedicated for studying surface atom kinetics during catalytic chemical reactions on ns timescales. My practical skills involve complex UHV installations, X-ray optics, fs and ns lasers, stepper motors hardware and software, programming/scientific data reduction, physics simulations.
